Housworth Construction, serving Suwanee, GA since 1929, is back on the job, and this one's a big one. The property owners called us in for a two-part exterior transformation: an extended driveway that wraps around the entire right side of the home, and a full rebuild of their existing back porch into a screened-in retreat. Before any concrete could be poured, our crew had to excavate the site and properly prep the ground, because a project this size only works if the foundation underneath it is right.

That prep work turned out to be more involved than a standard driveway job. The right side of the property has a slight natural slope, so our team engineered the driveway thicker on the far right to keep the surface level and stable across the entire stretch. We also installed drainage pipes within the perimeter before a drop of concrete went down, a deliberate move to keep water from pooling or running off the slab and to help control erosion on that side of the yard for years to come.

Once the pipes were in and the grading was set, we poured the new concrete, and then came the part most homeowners don't expect: patience. Because of the driveway's added thickness, it took about two weeks for the concrete to fully stabilize before it was ready for real use.
